National Parks Celebrate National S'mores Day on August 10

Nothing says summer like enjoying s’mores and other toasty treats by the campfire. With National S’mores day coming up on August 10, 2010 and August deemed National S’mores month, travelers and campers alike are in search for the best place to toast their favorite campfire treat.


National parks are undoubtedly the perfect family-friendly destination to camp and relax by the fire. Two favorites, Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and Mesa Verde National Park in southwestern Colorado, are celebrating with special S’mores offerings throughout August and beyond .

· Shenandoah National Park Lodging, 90 miles outside of Washington, D.C., is hosting the Backyard Barbecue & S’mores Festival on Saturday on August 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Skyland Resort.
