Terra Incognita Ecotours, an adventure travel company that specializes in wildlife-focused ecotours that give travelers the chance to “make a difference” while vacationing is offering wildlife enthusiasts the unique opportunity to take a dream vacation to Borneo while getting an up close and personal look at Borneo’s Orangutan’s.
Known as the “Land Below the Wind” and also "Land of the Sacred Mountain”, Sabah on the island of Borneo is a land of varied landscapes and natural wonders. Borneo is also the home of stunning National Parks and an abundance of tropical wildlife and nature. Terra Incognita Ecotours offers travelers a journey that will cover local cultures, a World Heritage Site, the base of the highest mountain in Southeast Asia, and a trip upon the Kinabatangan River---one of the richest ecosystems on the planet---and much more. This is truly a wildlife enthusiast’s dream vacation.
Adventurers have the unique opportunity to visit the Sepilok Orangutan Centre where these primates are rehabilitated for future release programs, and from there on to the village of Sukau, home of the Kinabatangan Orangutan and Elephant Conservation Programs. While in Sukau, travelers journey with local staff to look for Elephants and view Orangutans, Proboscis Monkeys, Hornbills, and many other wildlife species using the river as the highway.
The journey ends with a few days on Lankayan Island, where Sea Turtles share the beach with travelers and the waters are teeming with tropical life. From the beginning of the trip on Mount Kinabalu to the Kinabatangan River to the Sulu Sea, travelers will traverse the northeastern region of Malysian Borneo. Group size is limited to 16 members for a more intimate wildlife viewing experience, and Terra Incognita Ecotours will make a contribution to the Red Ape Encounters Community-based Ecotourism Project on behalf of every traveler.
