Dubai Says You're Not Done Shopping Yet

If there's anything the holidays teach us, it's that there is an insatiable appetite for shopping. With an estimated 184 million online shoppers on Cyber Monday alone, and an estimated $630.5 billion spent in America's stores during November and December according to the National Retail Federation, you might think shoppers had had enough.

Cut to Dubai, UAE.  One of the glitziest of the seven United Arab Emirates and known as "The City of Gold" to many Asian consumers, Dubai is celebrating its annual "Dubai Shopping Festival."

Lobby bar and lounge of The Oberoi, Dubai

Everyone gets in on the fun, with offers such as the ‘Shop Till You Drop’ package at the award-winning The Oberoi, Dubai.  This offer begins January 02 and runs till February 2, 2016, making it very handy for those interested in perusing the 4,000 shops in the nearby Dubai Mall.

If you're not familiar with this legendary hospitality company, Oberoi Group, founded in 1934, operates 30 luxury hotels in several countries, two luxury Nile Cruisers in Egypt, and a motorized ship in the backwaters of Kerala in southern India. Oberoi is known for its contemporary elegance, non-stop service and a more moderately priced brand called Trident Hotels, ideal for families touring India.

At the Oberoi Dubai, beautifully extravagant rooms feature stunning views of the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building and an insanely fun family attraction, as you can read in this account of "24 Hours in Dubai."

Oberoi Dubai deluxe guest room with skyline views

The the ‘Shop Till You Drop’ package includes accommodation in a deluxe room, with access to a dedicated 24-hour butler service to assist with every last detail. Not enough room to pack all those purchases? No worries. Need to book a personal stylist or consultant for that fashion-free teen? Done. Prefer to arrange private viewings in exclusive boutiques so grandparents don't have to walk so much? At your service.

The Oberoi runs complimentary scheduled transfers to Dubai Mall, the world's largest, and only one of the places where the hotel's shopping bag collection service delivers purchases back to the hotel --three times a day. Additionally, The Oberoi, Dubai will provide a dedicated shopping concierge desk with information on deals of the day and best tips. At day's end, this hotel has a luxurious spa, where guests can pamper themselves and rejuvenate after their shopping adventures.

Two Bedroom Family Suites have full dining facilities as well.

All 252 rooms actually have floor to ceiling windows with skyline views that will keep the kids entranced for hours. In-room amenities available for young children include soft toys, coloring books and DVDs, for those afternoons when you want to take a break.  If you're really going to shop, you may want to splurge on one of the spacious two-bedroom family suites available with Burj Khalifa views.  However, rooms with two queen beds are comfortable for the whole family, too.

As part of the Dubai Shopping Festival offer, guests have a daily buffet breakfast for two at Nine7One, the hotel’s world cuisine restaurant in addition to AED 200 (about US$55) hotel credit daily for redemption across all three signature restaurants and at The Oberoi Spa. Kid-friendly menus are available at the restaurants and for in-room dining, if everyone wants to stay in and have breakfast in bed. The hotel provides babysitting service with advanced booking, so that you can go out and enjoy the city's many famous restaurants.

The ‘Shop Till You Drop’ package is priced at  US$381.16 per night based on a two-night stay (subject to 10% municipality fees, 10% service charge and tourism dirham fee of AED 20 per room, per night).
