Low Country Beach Resort Cooking Up July 4th Crab Boil

Even if your head's not there yet, we have begun sharing July 4th holiday sales and fun ideas of how to spend the long weekend for last minute planners. Overwhelmed by the variety of choices in our annual Best Summer Vacations roundup? Let's start to narrow them down...

The soft white sand beach off the Carolina coast is a  big draw for families.

East Coasters should stay south of Delaware this July 4th if you want to swim in the Atlantic. That makes Charleston’s barrier island hosting the Wild Dunes Resort a good alternative to many active family vacationers.

There's kayaking at the resort, as well as kayak yoga, a real core workout for all ages.

This Independence Day, their Star Spangled Beach Savings program will offer 10% off nightly rates for those who arrive to celebrate the long weekend on June 27, 2015. You can pick from among the AAA Four Diamond-rated Village at Wild Dunes guestrooms and suites, or a few select vacation homes and condo rentals, and then get a complimentary dinner delivered to your door, with choice of  Southern fried chicken with all the fixings or the resort’s famous Lowcountry Boil (a seafood delight).

The Wild Dunes Village reflects the Southern style of most of the resort's lodging options.

Over the holiday, there's plenty of family fun to be  had. As we go to press, the Wild Dunes events calendar includes:

Golf is another popular sport to try at Wild Dunes, with afternoon tee times especially popular.

So will it be crabs? Burgers? or too much watermelon?
